EastEnders Star Jessie Wallace Accepts Damages and Public Apology from Reveal Magazine

Jessie Wallace has accepted substantial damages and a public apology from celebrity magazine, Reveal, in settlement of her claim for libel arising out of an article published in its 18-24 August 2012 edition entitled “JESSIE AND LETITIA at war”.

The article wrongly suggested that Ms Wallace had behaved in a highly unprofessional and childish manner by deliberately snubbing fellow actress, Letitia Dean, out of personal jealousy at the popular return of this former EastEnders favourite, and had thereby created an extremely tense and difficult working environment for the cast and crew working on the programme.
In a statement read by Ms Wallace's solicitor, Clintons partner Roddy Chisholm Batten, in the High Court in London on Friday, 1 March 2013, the publisher of Reveal, The National Magazine Company Limited, formally accepted that these allegations were untrue and that Ms Wallace and Ms Dean were, in fact, good friends.  It also accepted that there was no rivalry between the two and that Ms Wallace was delighted at Ms Dean’s return to EastEnders last year.  It then apologised publicly and unreservedly for any upset and embarrassment that the article has caused Ms Wallace.  As part of the settlement, it also agreed to discharge the costs that Ms Wallace has been forced to incur in relation to the publication of the article.
