Layla leads the firm’s employment practice.

Her non-contentious work includes managing employee relations issues (both employer and employee), reviewing and drafting employment agreements and consultancy contracts, reviewing and drafting HR policies and procedures, hiring and firing senior executives, advising on internal commercial reorganisations, handling internal disciplinary and grievance procedures and also advising on TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment rights) matters.

Layla’s contentious experience includes handling High Court claims on anti-compete and post-termination restrictions and employment tribunal claims relating to, amongst other things, unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination and trade union disputes. 

Her clients are drawn from a diverse range of sectors including entertainment, financial services and media and technology and include high net worth individuals and senior executives. She regularly provides clients and their management teams with training on a multitude of employment related matters including, diversity and managing disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings.

She has co-written a chapter on jurisdiction and governing law for the publication Cross-Border Transfers and Redundancies.

Layla joined Clintons from Starr & Partners LLP, where she led the employment practice. She trained at Debevoise & Plimpton and joined the employment department of CMS Cameron McKenna upon qualification.

Layla qualified as a solicitor in 2002.
